Just wondering
I am a little surprised that more questions and comments haven't come in about my candidacy. Is that a sign that my campaign letter totally made clear my positions or does it mean nobody has anything to say...

Union Meeting Sunday Morning 10am November 14
I can't be there this morning but I hope you all go to help the Local conduct it's business. Participating in your Local's affairs is the best way to make sure it is doing what it is supposed to.

Membership and Voices
Regarding race, creed, color and sex, when I walk across a venue, I see stagehands. Period.
Response to a posting
In my campaign letter I said:
"The Work that is assigned should be made by the office of the Business Agent and not by anyone else."
I was asked to explain this.
It seems these days, due to organizations making their own calls, that the office is not able to keep up with the members. In order to have the best people available it is extremely necessary that all calls go through the office from the originator to the member. This is to, hopefully, stop the number of times that people are needed and are not available or given calls when they are already working.
I have heard numerous stories of people who were sitting home finding out about calls after the fact due to the office thinking they were working.
This is not good system because it adds to confusion and loss of opportunity for people to make a living.
The correct approach is to have the call be distributed from the office and notated in a proper manner. This way both the Local and the member can be assured that all calls are being filled and every opportunity is afforded to the membership to be kept informed on the work available.
It will also allow the member to assess the choices before the call date.
I will post our upcoming calls on the website, along with the possible numbers, as often as possible to encourage members to have a clear understanding of what the pending work will require.

Trusting the membership
I have changed the permissions on the blog comment area to allow anonymous commenting.
I would not want to limit your ability to comment about the important decisions to be made in the next election.

Why Run?
After two years of not blogging, here we go again.
I am going to run for office again and here is your opportunity to tell me why I should or shouldn't, what needs to be worked on, where would you like the Union to be in the future.
The reason I am going to run is that I have a desire to protect and expand my livelihood. I know it it will be a difficult job but somebody has to want to make improvements to our way of making a living rather than be complacent and watch it slowly shrink.
Let me know what you think.
