i would like to respectfully ask a sincere question; how open would this blog to be? are you calling for questions that may be somewhat uncomfortable to answer? let me know.
you are an extremely hard working and intelligent person, as well as a great sound man! i believe that if you were elected you would work your butt off serving this local. however, i have known you for a while and made one particular observation. when you are in a position of power your personality tends to change. you become more abrasive and less patient. how can we as a local be assured that the jim capfer "one of the hands" will be the same man that we voted for and not a "different" jim capfer? (absolutely no offense intended, jim. it is a sincere question.)
secondly, i have long said that this local needs to present itself as the best product available. we have good people and can do a better job, while also protecting the producer/presenter from needless employment entanglements. how would you present the local 51 product to prospective clients?
When I have been an audio head that has been true I have gotten a bit demanding but you should, of all people, relate to the demands of the Audio Department. Sometimes I am as sweet as a Cinnamon Roll!!! As a production and tour manager it was the opposite. I had to trust the people around me because the job was too big for micro management. The fact that no one has seen that part of my abilities has not lessen the need for me to be more accessible, no matter what. I have enough friends honest enough with me to call me on this when necessary. But I feel this focused attitude is exactly what we need right now. As far as the product of Local 51 goes, I would present us as a talented and technical body. We have a majority of members cross trained in all departments plus a large number of technicians striving to stay on the cutting edge. In respects to where we are not as proficient, new work opportunities would hopefully also provide technical training situations for us.

I welcome any question that has to do with my candidacy or bringing attention to issues that need addressing.
